I just picked up 3 CD's while in Toronto last week. They are Esthero "breath from another", Bjork "Debut", and Muse "Absolution". I think you'd like all of them especially esthero. take a listen if you get the chance. |

Ok since a random purchase at a big cd sale on Friday night, I have to add.......
Mezmerize by System Of A Down. Omg, how much am I loving this album?! I was already a big SOAD fan anyway, but was obviously kinda slow on getting the new album... (I think I was still feeling quite depressed that I didn't get to see them live in January like I SHOULD have).
I also bought the new White Stripes album and LOVE that too.
YAY for new cds. Yay. |

i should like to say that Cat Power's "You Are Free" has been listened to frequently ever since my rediscovery of them a little while back when i purchased "Moon Pix". YAF, in my opinion, is the better of the two, but i will say that "Metal Heart" kicks my ass. big-time. one of these days i'll get a few more albums. |

I'm a very lucky girl indeed to have a new boyfriend who knows more indie bands than I do. We compliment each other perfectly because while he does now more about modern bands, I know a lot of history and facts about older bands. *sigh* I never thought the day would come when I would meet a guy like him.
Anyway, he's been lending me all these really kick ass CDs that have been finding their way into my player..here's a list of the music keeping me occupied lately (and keeping me thinking of him):
Bright Flight by The Silver Jews: If you like Stephen Malkmus of Pavement, this band is one of his side projects. This group is led by Malkmus' college friend, David Brennan. I'd call this stuff alt-contry-rock. Really detailed, intelligent lyrics and vocals delivered with a refreshing touch of irony.
The Moldy Peaches: This is about as low-fi as it gets, you can even hear a phone ringing in the background of one of the tracks...a disc about watching sailor moon and scooby doo, getting stoned, riding bikes, downloading porn with dave, and um...a lot of twisted shit. Really funny, immature band. So if you feel like slacking and eating cereal on the couch..this is the disc for you. |

there's been a handful of discs in very heavy rotation right now. mostly stuff i'm just getting my hands on.
Interpol - "Antics"
Metric - "Old World Underground..."
Hot Hot Heat - "Elevator"
and Placebo's "Black Market Music" is really growing on me at a high rate of speed. there's a cover of "I Feel You" on that disc that just grips me so good. |

I've had 'Back To Bedlam' by James Blunt and 'Feather And Stone' by Tom Baxter playing pretty much constantly since I bought them about a month ago. Fabulous fabulous albums. |

Well, after reading this entry's title, the song currenly on rotation in my head is som song I had to sing in Primary School, with a strange twanging accent... "Gimme gat, gimme gat, gimme gimme gimme gat. Gimme gat ging...." Etc. ^^;
But apart from that I'd have to say the band that's in Currently in love with is Kinicky (I think that's how it's spelt! ^^;). It's a random 90s band, and utterly poppy pop/rock. Brilliant. =P |

At this moment, i would have to say that Stina Nordenstam's (big surprise eh?) album "This Is Stina Nordentam" is my ablsolute favorite, actually for the past 4 years. Why? The different arrangements of various intruments and styles, her anticlimatic voice, and the depth of her lyrics...all on ONE cd. I admit she's not for everyone, but if you look for the talent, originality and depth(there's no other word) in her work, the least you can do is have a deep respect for it. Not even close to rockin' though.
P.S. I cant register on blogdrive on this comp @ work so i'll do it friday. thanks:) |

Hmmmm... hard to say, haven't been able to blast cds every morning lately (like I usually do).
I guess it'd be With Teeth by Nine Inch Nails... (y'know... just getting myself all rarked up for their concert next month).
Also, the last couple of days I've been making an effort to listen to the new Foo Fighters album a bit, since I'm seeing them live in November.
So I guess it's mostly just doing my homework for upcoming gigs? lol |
